Osisko Development Corp.'s ("Osisko Development" or the "Company") wholly-owned subsidiary, Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd, is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of the team at its flagship Project, Cariboo Gold Project, as a Hybrid Field Sampler/Heavy Equipment Operator in Wells BC.

This position’s work will primarily be located at the QR Mill which is part of the Company’s assets. QR Mill is located at the 59 KM mark on the 500 RD off the Barkerville Highway (HWY 26) at approximately 85 km from Quesnel. Travel to the project in Wells, BC may be required from time to time.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this Hybrid position is responsible for taking water samples for environmental testing and the safe and efficient operation of an onsite Water Treatment Plant, as well as operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to: Loader, Skid Steer, Fork Lift, Excavator, etc.

Candidates who do not possess those skills may be considered for the role if they express an interest in and can demonstrate the aptitude to successfully complete the necessary internal training.
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day activities by optimizing productivity in accordance with goals and scheduling while demonstrating a strong personal commitment to safety and the environment.

Main Responsibilities


• Understand the importance of wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Report and receive instructions on a daily basis from the Shift supervisor
• Follow QR lockout procedures when LOCKING OUT or ISOLATING EQUIPMENT
• Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
• Analyze test results and instrument readings and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems as needed
• Ensure all work is done in a safe and efficient manner
• Keep exterior and interior of equipment clean and tidy
• Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment; monitor and read gauges, meters and other recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and make sure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
• Test and adjust chemical feed rates to ensure that disinfection processes meet quality standards
• Perform routine inspections of equipment and report deficiencies to Supervisor and/or Mechanical department
• Deliver reagents and supplies to mill and other departments as required
• Snow removal when required or requested by Supervisor
• Unload heavy freight from incoming trucks
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Actively participate in training and train other employees
• Actively participate in set policies and procedures
• Keep daily log of shift events.

Skills and Abilities Required


• Capacity to work in adverse weather conditions, extreme noise, vibration, dust and fumes
• Physical ability to lift 80 lbs
• Visual acuity, near and far, depth perception to read gauges on instrument panels
• Ability to read maps, work with written and verbal instructions
• Mental awareness to be able to work around moving parts and potential hazards
• Collaborative work style – willing to participate in solving problems and working in a team environment
• Positive outlook with good interpersonal skills
• Willingness to continue learning, and to mentor and train others when needed
• A record of excellent safety and attendance
• Operating Heavy Equipment
• EOCP level 1,2 or 3 considered an asset

Qualifications


•Field sampling experience from some of the following disciplines: water sampling, construction monitoring, hydrology, meteorology, vegetation, dust fall,
•ML/ARD, wildlife, aquatic biology, land reclamation, contaminated sites, erosion/sediment
•Management, hazardous waste, spill cleanup/reporting, drainage control
•Physically fit and able to carry out physical activities
•Team-oriented but driven to produce personal results
•Able to thrive in a dynamic work environment that requires frequent adjustments to planned activities and approaches to get the work done
•Excellent planning, problem-solving, and coordination skills and a fast learner
•Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
•Able to work outdoors working year-round in extreme weather, around heavy equipment, on uneven ground, water, boats, around wild animals, and on snowmobiles and ATVs
•5 years or more heavy equipment operation experience in mining or similar environment
•Valid Driver’s License

The estimated base hourly wage range for this position is $35 - $45. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
